Day’s like today’s ride are why I love to ride bikes. Get up early in the morning, throw your shit together real quick, eat your breakfast on the way to go ride , the whole time wondering if you’ve forgotten anything really important. I’ve always got my main checklist in my head on the way to the ride. “Do you have your 1) helmet , 2) shoes, 3) water, 4) and gloves. Having your pack is an obvious, and hopefully you haven’t taken anything vital out of it that may potentially leave you stranded in the woods if you have a mechanical. At least if you have these 4 things you’ll be able to ride. Anyways, back on track here. Get up early and head out.
I always take the Blue Ridge Parkway on my way out to Wilson’s because there is less traffic, and of course the views are phenomenal. Sometimes I don’t even look over at the views because I’ve driven past them so many times and have become immune to them. I was thinking today how lucky I am to live in such a beautiful place. This weekend is peak leaf weekend. People drive from all over the east coast to come to these mountains and look at these views. They think it’s all spectacular, which it is. Living here makes you immune to the beauty. You’ve seen the veiws a thousand times, you’ve seen the fall colors and all that and you end up taking it for granted. So next time you’re out at Wilson’s take a minute to look around and enjoy it. Don’t be in such a hurry on your rides. Enjoy the forest. Riding isn’t just work. It shouldn’t be “Lets see how fast we can get done with this loop so I can get home as quick as possible.” It should be “I’m off work for the weekend and I’m gonna enjoy every minute I get to spend out here.”
Ok, enough of that bullshit. How bout some riding? Ended up being just CC and myself today. You can definitely tell that fall is just around the corner, other than the fact that it says it on the calendar. It’s getting to where it’s nice and cool in the mornings and perfect during the day for riding. Not too cold, and not too hot. Perfect is the only way to describe the weather. We ended up doing a classic loop. No-name to LLR to Greentown to Beehive. All trails are in phenomenal shape. Heres the photos. They’re in the gallery as larger images if you can’t see em’.

That’ s all the decent riding shots we got. Greentown and Beehive were running to fast to stop for pictures.
Now at the end of beehive this is the scene. I’m sure you all remember the culvert that washed out like what….3 years ago now? Well I guess they have decided it’s time to fix it and i’m sure alot of you have seen it. Chris and I were in amazement at the amount of destruction that has take place here just to fix a culvert that a little creek went through. The funny part is that this road ends 50 feet past where this culvert washed out. I’d say who cares. No one can drive back there anyways. Hell they’re probably fixing it because they’ll be needing access back in around upper creek to log it out in the future.
Apparently these trees were in the way. It’s ok for government contracted construction workers to do whatever they want a reckon. As long as the job gets done.

This is why the trees had to go I reckon….had to make room for this guy to get in and move around.

Trash laying everywhere….and I couldn’t figure out a way to take a picture of the smell of diesel fuel and hydraulic fluid that was probably leaking from all the equipment into the creek. But hey, it’s the government, no prob.

And check out this new creek they made after destroying the old one.

I’m sure you’ve also noticed the logging signs on the way to Sinkhole. Enjoy Wilson’s while it lasts.
